DANCETARIA

Captain’s log: star date 3, 0, point 6 point 1, 8.

After a successful first mission, the Dancetaria Crew will return once more to the Marshall Rooms. The ship’s long range sensors have shown some disturbances, they may be particularly spaced-out dance party vibes. Our engineering team are keen to investigate. Why not dust off and meet us in orbit? Its the only way to be sure. Expect dance records from 30 years ago alongside tracks that were downloaded the day of the party. All the genres i.e. disco, funk, electro, techno, bassline, and house. This voyage will feature extraterrestrial DJ Busy Fingers, the slightly more local Parish News alongside resident DJ/Producers - the behatted Brain Rays, sarcastic Tofuti Klein, hat-wobbling Stoogie Houzer (Bizarre Rituals) and Mully....plus a big green laser on a spaceship.

Baka Beyond

2018 is Baka Beyond’s 25th anniversary. In October 1993 their groundbreaking album ‘Spirit of the Forest’ hit the scene to great acclaim. The release is regarded as a classic of the genre.

They will be celebrating 25 years of recording and performing worldwide, with a UK tour in the Autumn.

Originally inspired by the music of the Baka Forest People, Pygmies whose music and dance have been celebrated since the time of the Pharaohs. Baka Beyond use the Baka rhythms to fuse music from the band-members’ Celtic and African roots. The resulting music is highly infectious and crosses boundaries of genre, age and ethnicity.

Paddy Le Mercier, the fantastic Breton fiddle player, will be rejoining Baka Beyond for their 25th anniversary tour.

The DeRellas are a band started by Timmy DeRella, x Glory Strummers, and Robbie Tart, x Vibrators. Tom Carter quickly joined them and after auditioning a few guitarists, Luca, used to play with Tom in Infant Skull Surgery but also played guitar for Los Paraliticos, became their lead guitarist. That was back in 2007, more or less. The DeRellas supported Hanoi Rocks, Zodiac Mindwarp, Vice Squad, The Vibrators, The Germs to name a few, they headlined an European tour and they have an album, Hollywood Monsters, out on Crushworld Records. The DeRellas are: Robbie DeRella, vocals and guitar. Timmy DeRella, bass guitar and b.v. Luca DeRella, lead guitar and b.v. Tommy DeRella, drums, Skinny DeRella, drums 2010/2013

Very happy to annouce that the amazing Bryde will coming to The Marshall Rooms.

Bryde established her ethereal indie-rock sound early on, working with producers such as Jolyon Thomas ( Royal Blood) and Bill Ryder-Jones (Hooton Tennis Club, Saint Saviour) Early radio support has reflected this coming from the likes of Huw Stephens on Radio 1, 6music, playlist on BBC Radio Wales and supported by Maz on Radio X. 2016 was a whirlwind year on the live circuit for Bryde: opening for Rufus Wainwright, well-received sets at Dot To Dot, Green Man and Swn, two sold-out London headliners, debut shows in New York and Los Angeles and UK headline tours. 2017 has reached new heights with packed shows at Live at Leeds and The Great Escape, sold out shows and her first shows in Europe. The co-produced debut album mixed by Catherine J Marks (Big Moon, The Amazons) is due in early 2018 with influences of Radiohead, Warpaint and Jeff Buckley evident.
